The film

Meet Jack and his mother, Fran.

Jack and Fran share the search for a home that feels right, the importance of being understood, and what changed when the right people came together.

Jack is the youngest of six. He lives with cerebral palsy, has a sharp sense of humour and has spent years speaking up for the rights of people with intellectual disability through his advocacy work.

For Jack and his mother, Fran, finding a home was never only about the building. It was about finding people who would listen, understand how Jack wants to live and support him as a whole person.

That search took years. Fran says Jack is now the calmest, most at peace and happiest she has seen him since he left the family home. The calls that once came throughout the day are less frequent because Jack is busy enjoying his own life.

Jack says good support starts with understanding the person's needs. It means being flexible, matching staff thoughtfully and knowing when to help without taking over.

His accessible home is provided by Good Housing, with Abound's team supporting his day-to-day life. Together, the home and the people around him have given Jack room to settle in and look forward to what comes next.

I'm excited to see how this chapter goes and what comes next in my life.
